At this point in time, the Bancroft Districts of Hastings, North Hastings, Highlands East and surrounding townships, still represent a very economical alternative to the Muskoka cottage area.  The Bancroft area is sitting on the same Canadian Shield, about the same distance below Algonquin Park as is Muskoka.  The area lakes are generally rated very highly and provide an excellent quality of swimming, fishing and boating activities.  One of the Greater Bancroft Areas greatest assets is the friendly people.  The entire area is filled with people, who really care about their neighbours and will go out of their way to be friendly and helpful.  Another Bancroft area asset is the Lower Prices as compared to the Muskoka area.
