October Events in and Around Huntsville & Muskoka

The leaves are turning, and pumpkins are on the vine. October marks one of the best times to be in Huntsville and around Muskoka, especially when it comes to family friendly traditions in our region. Plenty of events will be happening throughout the month to celebrate the season, our communities, and the region. We love where we live and being a part of all that this beautiful area has to offer. Listed below are some of the great events taking place in October.

Start October right at the Feast the Harvest Festival, being held in Huntsville on Saturday, October 1st. The Muskoka North Good Food Co-op (MNGF), invites you to an evening of excellent regional food and drink. The harvest atmosphere will be enhanced with entertainment by local artists, including musician Denis Gauthier. Attendees even get a souvenir mason jar with a libation to take and enjoy the fruits of fall at home.

Thanksgiving is Monday, October 10th. Take a step back in time on Saturday, October 8th at the Muskoka Lakes Museum during their Thanksgiving Open House. Fun for friends and family alike, visitors can enjoy some tasty autumn treats such as pumpkin muffins and mulled cider while getting a peak into what life was like for Muskoka pioneers.

Halloween is fast approaching. If you have little ones in the family, Downtown Huntsville has just the thing for you. On Saturday, October 29th, bring your little goblin, witch, or fairy to the Tiny Tots Halloween Parade. Starting at the steps of Town Hall, this is a safe, family fun event for the young ones. The parade begins at 9:00 am, with a Halloween celebration put on by Downtown Huntsville merchants afterward.

We in Huntsville know how to trick-or-treat in style. Head over to the Muskoka Heritage Place Village on Monday, October 31st for the “Spooktacular” Great Pumpkin Trail Halloween event. Kids and adults alike enjoy this popular Huntsville Halloween tradition, with village buildings being decked out with cobwebs, ghosts, and ghouls. Community members dress in their finest mummy or vampire costumes handing out candy, too. Everyone can trick-or-treat in a traffic free environment. This is the October social event for kids of all ages.

Harvest celebrations and community connections abound during October. We hope you can join in some of these much loved Huntsville and Muskoka traditions.
