Festivities, Music & Races Come to Huntsville in July

July is a month full of music and community celebrations in Huntsville. With Canada Day festivities starting the month off, there is almost no end to the festivals, concerts and recreational races to be found here. Whether this is your first July in Huntsville or not, you are in for some exciting entertainment with plenty of fun for everyone. The list of events is a big one this month; listed below are just a few of the most popular gatherings, worth attending if you can.

As you know, Canada Day is extra special this year, marking our 150th birthday as a nation. All year long there are special events being held in celebration. Saturday, July 1st is the official holiday for Canada Day, and with it comes a wide variety of things to do. Just in Huntsville alone, the Town Council has a dedicated page outlining all the different celebrations. On the Huntsville Canada Day Page, there are details about the Decades Parade, The Muskoka Heritage Place Strawberry Social & Steam Up Day, and the Downtown Huntsville Food & Music Festival, just to name a few.

Rotary Dockfest 2017 will take place at Huntsville’s historic downtown waterfront on Saturday, July 8th. The main event is the very popular Bathtub Derby, organized by the Huntsville Rotary. This fun day includes all the music and food you could want, and proceeds go to help two local charities each year. This year’s beneficiary organizations are Fairvern Nursing Home and Huntsville Hospice.

One of the biggest events of the year is coming up, Sunday, July 9th, the Ironman 70.3 Muskoka Triathlon. Part of the world-wide Ironman Marathon series, participants can swim, bike and jog their way around some of Huntsville’s best scenic areas. What an incredible place to challenge athletic capabilities, or perhaps qualify for the championship itself.

As part of the year-long Huntsville Festival of the Arts, July is all about music. This begins with Concerts on the Dock. Starting Wednesday, July 5th, and each Wednesday through August, there will be incredible live music on hand. A variety of genres will be presented and all the shows are free to attend. Bring a picnic and a chair, and enjoy a long-loved Huntsville summer tradition.

Another musical tradition in July is Jazz in the Garden on Sunday, July 23rd. Enjoy this outdoor concert surrounded by the gorgeous gardens of Spencer’s Tall Trees Restaurant. Also part of the Huntsville Festival of the Arts, you will want to get your tickets soon to enjoy this relaxing summer favorite.

July is the perfect time to experience some of the best this region has to offer, especially in Huntsville, the community at the center of it all in Muskoka.
