Celebrate Muskoka Culture, Art and Hallowe’en in October

As the busy tourist season slows down, the season turns toward autumn. Cooler weather and harvests aplenty are on the minds of communities around the region. October is an excellent time to have some fun and discover more about what Muskoka has to offer, including art, culture and Hallowe’en celebrations.  We hope you will enjoy your time here with the varied festivals and family-friendly events. Listed below are some October happenings you won’t want to miss.
Culture Days Ontario is a series of events to celebrate the diverse cultures found across the Province. This includes the Muskoka region, where you will find activities and events promoting the art and culture found here. Held the weekend of Saturday, September 30th through Sunday, October 1st, Culture Days is a feast for the senses, in so many ways; there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy this weekend.

Art lovers will want to check out the annual Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour, the second weekend of the tour coincides with Culture Days Ontario, a perfect way to get behind the scenes with some of our local artists.

Spend some time exploring the incredible beauty of Algonquin Park. During autumn, the leaves are breathtaking and the air crisp and cool. Of special note is the annual Haunted Hallowe’en Weekend, being held Friday, October 27th through Saturday, October 28th. Take an Animal Skeleton Tour, listen to spooky tall tales, join the pumpkin carving contest, compete for the spookiest campsite, and so much more.
Get started with your Hallowe’en celebrations a bit early with the Downtown Huntsville Tiny Tots Hallowe’en Parade on Saturday, October 28th. This costumed parade is perfect for the wee ones to have some fun and parents and grandparents to enjoy plenty of adorable photo opportunities.

Anyone with young trick-or-treaters on Hallowe’en will also want to head over to the Pioneer Village at Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville on Tuesday, October 31st. The Umpteenth Annual Great Pumpkin Trail is a wonderful way to have a safe and fun Hallowe’en for the young ones. Enjoy traffic-free trick-or-treating with splendidly decorated pioneer homes and businesses throughout the village.
