Think You Know All About The Huntsville Library? Think Again

October is Library Month across Canada. Ontario has a whole week dedicated to Libraries, coming up this year from October 15th  - 21st. Here in Huntsville, this means our library will have some exciting events going on. This is the perfect time to check out the library once again. If you think you know all about what our public libraries have to offer, you may be surprised to find out just how much more libraries are supporting communities these days.

Gone are the days of simply checking out a hard copy book, audio book or even a DVD. Now, there are a variety of digital devices and resources you can access through the Huntsville Public Library. There are even wi-fi hotspots available, as well as computer and digital learning classes, catering to all ages. Or you can get away from the fast paced digitial world, and take a step back to better get in touch with your garden. The library Seed 101 program has been put together to help encourage sustainable gardening practices, as well as community connections.

With Ontario’s Public Library Week, “A visit will get you thinking,” as you can discover what’s new at the library. Don’t miss the all-new How-To in 10 Festival being held at the Huntsville Library on October 21st. If you have been interested in learning a new skill, or finding out about a hobby you have wanted to explore, but haven’t had the time, this event is for you. The How-To in 10 Festival literally provides 10 minute workshops put on by community members and businesses; you can learn something new in 10 short mintues. And just for kids, the Youth Tech Extravaganza is not to be missed on October 17th.

There will also be some fun contests, story-telling times and even a food drive, going on throughout Ontario’s Public Library Week. In fact, if you have ventured away from the library because of a book (or several) which you forgot to turn in, and you have library fees piling up, now’s the time you can clear the slate and help others. Bring in a food item to donate and get your fee balance lowered; the more food you donate, the lower your past due fines will go.

Libraries have long been active institutions of learning, and supportive community centeres. As a key resource for so many, supporting our libraries in return will help ensure they are here for future generations too. You can also discover a lot about Huntsville and the Muskoka Region when you stop by the Huntsville Public Library - we encourage everyone to spend some time there soon, it will get you thinking afterall.
The library is a resource you can depend upon. When you are ready to buy or sell your home, cottage or condo, you want a local real estate resource you can depend on as well.
